Laura Linney is an American actor, who became well-known for her performance of powerful but fragile characters. Born to a well-known playwright's father but was raised by a single mom, who earned her living in the field of nursing, she began to take an interest in theater while having summers spent with her father then pursuing acting studies, first as a student at Brown University and then at Juilliard School. She began her Broadway career after her graduation in the year 2000, before making her TV debut in the next year. Since then she has appeared in a variety of films, television productions and stage plays. She's been nominated for three Oscar Awards, five Tony Awards, four Primetime Emmy Awards (including two Golden Globe Awards), and received several awards during her time on the stage. But despite the many awards, her passion for theatre remains constant, as she continues to perform both as a stage performer and screen.
